HGV drivers are forced to abide by rules, laws and regulations of European countries. The maximum speed limit for Europe/UK even though they're technically the same thing is 56MPH/96KMH. That is the fastest any European truck can go without breaking the law

I guess Mercedes DLC lowered the top speed to fit the reality as you describe. The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic. Try G330 transmissions, they have smaller differential than G280 and give you more speed, but you need more engine power too.
